We are associated with Hope Presbyterian Church which itself has a heart to serve the community. Hope Funerals Christchurch was started because of a perceived need for a caring, affordable and client centred funeral service. Our director is a member of Hope Presbyterian and the business enjoys the support and blessing of the church. Profit from this business is distributed to good causes in the community.

							Thank you so much to Ali of Hope Funerals for all your assistance with the details of our friend Pat’s celebration of life.  We appreciated  your assistance in having Pat at home before the funeral. All the details we requested were taken care of and everything ran smoothly.  Friends and family who were unable to attend the service were very happy with the live stream. 							As a family we highly recommend the team and especially Alistair of Hope Funerals Hornby. Some members of our family in the past had  some very unpleasant experiences when dealing with the loss of a loved one. When Alistair arrived he was very professional but caring. He was able to answer any questions and help us relax and understand the process. He treated Cherry with care, dignity  and helped complete experience of what I call a beautiful peaceful death. I work with people from all backgrounds and family dynamics, ensuring that each service reflects the wishes, values, and stories of your loved one. Whether you seek a traditional, spiritual, or uniquely personal farewell, I am here to help you create a meaningful tribute that brings comfort and connection.
It is a privilege to walk alongside families in their time of loss, offering not only a well-crafted ceremony but also a steady and compassionate presence during one of life’s most difficult moments.’

Richard Marchant is an experienced and qualified (Diploma of Celebrancy) Funeral and Marriage Celebrant, who has worked alongside the Hope Funerals team for several years.
Richard has the skill set required to create highly personal and individualised ceremonies that are unique to the special person you are farewelling. He can deliver everything from light-hearted life ceremonies to the most formal of funerals, and everything in between, always ensuring that you and your loved one remain at the centre of everything.
Families find Richard to be highly professional, incredibly easy to work alongside and are pleasantly surprised at his ability to bring some joy at such a difficult time.
A qualified and former primary school teacher, he can still be found doing the occasional Zoo School shift at Orana Wildlife Park.
Richard is also the host and facilitator of Death Café Lincoln.
